HI RESOLUTION SCREENSHOTS

HI GUYS, THERE ARE SOME NOTES ON HOW TO CAPTURE HI RESOLUTION SCREENSHOTS HERE: http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=35045&hilight=con+restricted+0+and+hud

BUT TO SUMMARIZE ...

FOR STILLS:
1. WHEN YOU ARE IN GAME (CTRL+G) HIT THE TILDE BUTTON (UPPER LEFT OF YOUR KEYBOARD, JUST UNDER ESCAPE).
2. IN THE CONSOLE WINDOW THAT OPENS, TYPE IN "con_restricted 0" (THAT'S A ZERO, AND DON'T INCLUDE THE QUOTATION MARKS).
3. THEN TYPE "e_screenshot 1" (AGAIN, WITHOUT THE QUOTATION MARKS) ... THIS WILL TAKE A SCREENSHOT IN *.TGA FORMAT @ 2000 x 1500 PIXELS. THE SCREENSHOT DOESN'T CAPTURE THE TEXT OR HUD, WHICH IS GREAT.

FOR CAPTURING ANIMATIONS:
1.
WHEN YOU ARE IN GAME (CTRL+G) HIT THE TILDE BUTTON (UPPER LEFT OF YOUR KEYBOARD, JUST UNDER ESCAPE).
2. IN THE CONSOLE WINDOW THAT OPENS TYPE IN "con_restricted 0" (WITHOUT THE QUOTATION MARKS). IF YOU TYPED THIS IN EARLIER, YOU WON'T HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN.
3. TYPE "cl_hud 0" (NO QUOTE MARKS), THIS WILL REMOVE THE HUD ELEMENTS SO YOU'LL GET CLEAN VIDEO CAPTURES.

SYNTAGM AND PARADIGM

Hi Guys, this is a passage from Lev Manovich's book "The language of New Media" and relates to the research matrix you are putting together:

"Elements in the syntagmatic dimension are related in praesentia, while elements in the paradigmatic dimension are related in absentia. For instance, in the case of a written sentance, the words that comprise it materially exist on a piece of paper, while the paradigmatic sets to which these words belong only exist in the writers or readers minds. Similarly, in the case of a fashion outfit, the elements that comprise it, such as a skirt, blouse, and jacket, are present in reality, while pieces of clothing that could have been present instead - different skirt, different blouse, different jacket - exist only in the viewers imagination. Thus, syntagm is explicit and paradigm is implicit; one is real and the other is imagined."

CRYSIS SETUP

HI GUYS, JUST A FEW PATHS FOR YOUR CRYSIS SETUP.

AFTER PURCHASING THE GAME AND INSTALING IT YOU FIND THE EDITOR HERE:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Editor

OPEN THE SDK README HERE:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Support\mod_sdk_readme_1_2.html

THE FOLLOWING IS A QUOTE FROM THAT DOCUMENT ...

"Sandbox

The CryENGINE™ 2 Sandbox can be started by running the Editor.exe application found in the Bin32 directory for usage on a 32bit PC or in the Bin64 directory for usage on a 64bit PC.

It’s recommended to use a 64bit machine for doing production work using Sandbox.

The following steps should be followed to create a new level.

· In the menu bar, click on File -> New
· Enter a Level Name which will be used as directory name and click the Ok button
· In the menu bar, click on Terrain -> Edit Terrain…
· Draw some terrain elevation to shape the landscape and click on the Ok button
· In the menu bar, click on File -> Generate Surface Texture
· Select a texture dimension and click the Ok button
· Click on File -> Save to fully save the level

After these steps, it’s recommended to re-launch Sandbox and open the level again before doing further work.

Further information on how to use Sandbox can be found in the online documentation of the CryENGINE™ 2 stored at http://doc.crymod.com ."
